Aston Martin DB5 (1965)

From ‘Goldfinger’ to ‘Skyfall’ its timeless beauty and sheer presence make the DB5 perhaps the most iconic movie car ever. And what a way to add drama and excitement to your special day! Graceful classic lines shimmering in the original silver birch. Stunning dark blue leather upholstery and the classic ‘English country manor drawing room’ interior. It just does not get better that the Aston Martin DB5. The DB5 is a 2 door coupe with quite small back seats but you can squeeze in for short journeys or most likely squeeze the groom in the back so the bride gets pride of place up front! The Aston Martin is a rare very special and exclusive wedding carriage and is available chauffeur driven at £150/hour with a minimum hire of 3 1/2 hours (i.e. £525). The timeless elegance of this 1929 vintage Daimler will transport you in style and luxury. Finished in ‘clotted cream’ white and black, her 6 cylinder 3.3 litre engine is smooth and quiet and runs beautifully. Your experienced chauffeur will attend to all your needs, yet your privacy is ensured with the sliding glass screen. This magnificent period car is a “landaulet” which means the roof to the rear may be lowered to provide the perfect journey come rain or shine! This car is extremely spacious and the passenger doors are rear-hinged making it easier to get in and out. Unlike many vintage cars, this limousine will accommodate a bride who has a large wedding dress and long veil. The wire wheels, exceptionally rare split windscreen, and magnificent angel wings capping the substantial radiator all convey class. Daimler cars were the preferred carriage of royalty in the 1920s and 1930s rather than those of rival Rolls Royce: King George V used a Daimler 20/70 like this one in 1924. This car has recently been restored to a very high standard and will make a terrific accompaniment to your wedding photos. Please note that this car has two doors and space in the rear may be a little restrictive for a wedding dress with a train. We offer ribbon colours of your choice, and optional bows on the doors. White ribbons make an excellent contrast with the dark body colour.

Tip Top Condition

Lots of work takes place over the winter months to make sure the classic cars are in tip-top condition for your wedding when the time comes. Deep under the bonnet the Vintage Daimler has had the steering fully renovated. None of the parts are available ‘off the shelf’ so the roller bearing races shown here had to be specially made. Fortunately they are the same pattern as some Alvis and Bentley cars of the same era. The difference between the left and the right clearly show that 90 years of wear and tear takes its toll on smooth surfaces. The new one (left) should last another 90 years …

Of course, it is the most recognisable car on the planet. We are delighted to say that we have a Rolls Royce in the Devon Classic Wedding Cars fleet. Take a look at the car’s page on the website and check out all of the details. The 1979 Silver Shadow is in impeccable condition and has been very well cared for throughout its life. Although it is 43 years old, it is still smooth, elegant, and with the type of prestige that you seldom find in a modern car. An absolute classic!

Our fantastic cars are not always found at weddings – Here are some pics of our Aston Martin DB5 in a Photoshoot with ‘Scaramanga’, the luggage company who supplied props for the latest Bond film No Time To Die. The pictures were taken at the delightful Kingston Estate in South Devon. You may notice the different number plates in the photos – all perfectly normal for Mr Bond’s car!

Our cars were built in a time when comfort and power were the priorities, rather than fuel economy and consideration for the environment. However, now we know better and at Devon Classic Wedding Cars we firmly believe we should be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Therefore we have subscribed to ‘Net Hero’, an organisation which invests in Carbon Offset projects such as reforestation and peatland restoration in the UK and around the world. From 1st January 2022 we will pay a subscription based on MPG and mileage so that for every mile covered in one of these beautiful vintage and classic cars, a carbon-capture project in Net-Hero’s portfolio will benefit.
